News: The Simpsons Take on Street Art with Special Guests Shepard Fairey Ron English, and Kenny Scharf

You know what they say, you haven’t made it until you made it on The Simpsons or Sesame Street and it seems a couple bold faced names from the street art world will be the next artist to make it on to The Simpsons (we’re still waiting to hear word back from Sesame Street). The episode is set to air on March 4th and is entitled “Exit Through The Kwik-E-Mart” a clear reference to Banksy, who last year directed the opening sequence for an episode of the Simpson’s (posted below). The plot centers around Bart and Milhouse who take to the streets of to plaster Homer’s unflattering image all over Springfield in an effort to get back at him which eventually leads them to get caught by Shepard Fairey, Ron English, Kenny Scharf and Robbie Conal (voiced by themselves) who invite him to exhibit his work.

When asked about being a guest star on the iconic television series Fairey said “part of being on The Simpsons, is that you’re being honored as a reference point in culture, but you also can’t be too sensitive about that part of culture being made fun of…There’s irony that comes with something outsider becoming insider. And they do a great job of examining that.” (12ozProphet)
